SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SF Police Credit Union, serving first responders and their families in nine California counties and beyond, commenced construction on a new administrative building at 1250 Grundy Lane in San Bruno on Friday, August 19, 2016. Among the local dignitaries attending the groundbreaking ceremony were San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane, City Manager Connie Jackson, Chief of Police Ed Barberini, and City Councilmembers Ken Ibarra, Irene O’Connell and Rico E. Medina. Located in San Bruno’s Bayhill Office Park, the new building will serve to enhance service delivery infrastructure and improve operational efficiencies as the financial cooperative continues on its path of growth—projected to reach $1 billion in assets by 2020.
“While our Irving Street location will continue to serve as our main branch, the new administrative building will create needed space for added staff and will allow us to expand our contact center and technological capacities to ensure that member service and satisfaction remain a top priority as we position the credit union for long-term growth,” said SF Police Credit Union President and CEO Eddie Young. “In addition, its central location complements our current branch network and will include a new branch and ATM to serve members who live and work in the area.”
SF Police Credit Union Board Chairman Michael Hebel added, “Within just five years, we expect to have approximately 45,000 members. The new administrative building has been carefully designed to serve our present needs, with room to grow over the next several decades.”
Started by a group of San Francisco police officers based on their mutual financial needs, the credit union first opened in 1953 in the old horse stables behind Park Station with one part-time employee and $100,000 in assets. Since this time, it has grown to 110 full time employees and nearly $830 million in assets with branches in Pleasanton, Oakland, San Mateo, and two in San Francisco. The new San Bruno administrative building will house the credit union’s sixth branch.
