FLEXcon Sticks Together for 60 Years of Manufacturing Leadership

Company celebrates long history of custom manufacturing solutions and support for U.S. manufacturing

SPENCER, Mass.--()--FLEXcon, an innovator in adhesive coating and laminating, is celebrating its 60th anniversary of providing custom manufacturing solutions to help customers drive innovation. The family-owned company has been a staple in the manufacturing community, creating lasting relationships by providing customers the ideal solution for each project and application. Since the beginning, the company has been focused on outstanding service, technical expertise and sheer ingenuity.

In reflecting on the company’s history, President and CEO Neil McDonough states, “When my father, Myles McDonough, produced his first film laminate in a small Spencer garage in 1956, he had the vision to create a company focused on providing customers with exceptional services while offering employees a stable work environment. My father’s commitment to his employees, customers and the manufacturing community is still with the company today and I am honored to represent my family as we celebrate 60 years of business.”

Today FLEXcon is the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives with sales of $300 million annually and more than 1,000 employees worldwide. FLEXcon employees, who average over 15 years of service, work to provide an operational and innovative organization that will benefit local, regional, and world-wide markets. FLEXcon recently unveiled a new brand in December 2015 that reflects the company’s renewed commitment to customer relationships. FLEXcon believes that relationships matter and relationships determine results. In support of the company’s brand promise, FLEXcon offers complete solutions that help customers gain a sharper competitive edge. FLEXcon employees are driven to provide better business results, not just a better product. And through a collaborative and highly-personalized approach, FLEXcon works to gain a deep understanding of customer’s problems and help them take advantage of their opportunities and realize their potential.

The company has been devoted to promoting manufacturing in the U.S. by developing innovative products and by working with customers to create custom solutions that are driving the manufacturing industry forward. Examples range from unique products that helped grow the tag & label and promotional graphics industries, to current day where FLEXcon is working with NASA to manufacture and market polyimide aerogels for many aerospace applications, such as insulation for cryotanks and spacesuits, as well as more down-to-Earth uses in construction, refrigeration and pipe insulation. FLEXcon helped NASA develop its ideas into commercial reality.

To celebrate this milestone, the company is hosting a special employee event at the company’s headquarters on August 25-26, 2016. To follow along, please join us on Twitter @FLEXcon.
