Collaboration Between Branding Agency, Startup Leads to Revolutionary Hiring Solution

Initially contracted for a branding project, 20nine aids startup to change a decades-old model

PHILADELPHIA--()--Imagine having to only ever interview two candidates to fill a position. That’s exactly what StaffGeek set out to accomplish in developing its revolutionary proprietary assessment tool, MatchTech™, which fuses technology and transparency to create a statistically favorable match, removing the guessing and finger-crossing associated with staffing and hiring.

20nine, a leading creative brand agency, contracted by StaffGeek initially to develop the brand attributes, visuals, website and leave behinds went well beyond those efforts to help define and build the core business strategy.

“We recognize the changes in the workplace and have developed a hiring solution that fills the needs of today’s modern companies,” said Sean Boyce, Co-Founder of StaffGeek. “Our data-driven methodology of cross-matching candidates and companies based on their distinct native attributes is a first in the industry. We like to think that StaffGeek is doing for professional staffing what Match.com is doing for personal dating. Staffing can no longer be thought about as matching job descriptions to resumes. It’s about humans hiring humans and candidates connecting with cultures.”

StaffGeek is founded by two business partners who both happen to be software engineers, Sean Boyce and Matt Reed. Boyce, whose father has more than thirty years of experience as an executive recruiter, knew that technology could improve the way companies identify and hire talent. In conjunction with 20nine, the team created a new methodology and patented a process that makes good on the promise of having technology to help do the job differently, and better.

Companies are coming to StaffGeek for a wide variety of reasons, but the most popular reason to date is how StaffGeek helps companies keep their younger workforce engaged and interested in their work. StaffGeek’s culture-focused service ensures it has the most accurate information to ensure its customers successfully overcome all perceived challenges faced when working with Millennials.

“Brands will absolutely die if they do not have a solid business footing beneath them,” said Greg Ricciardi, founder and CEO of 20nine. “This was truly a collaborative effort with StaffGeek to help them redefine an antiquated model and revolutionize the way companies can go about staffing. Our consultative approach and proven methodology allowed the StaffGeek team to focus on their expertise of building the technology to make their vision a reality.”

First, 20nine and StaffGeek crafted a very specific questionnaire designed to profile the Company, called the “Company DNA” (Distinct Native Attributes). They measure everything from social culture to office flow. Then they generate the Model Match, which is the ideal candidate prototype for a given position. And lastly, they developed one for the candidates to complete, the “Candidate DNA.” This is where candidates answer questions about their goals, personality, preferences, and their unique work habits. StaffGeek then built an algorithm that combines those three components, by cross-referencing the company and candidate DNA profiles, they identify the Match Quotient, or the “MQ.” So, for example, when applying for a position and a candidate receives an 85 MQ and the position is looking for an 84 MQ, companies have found their match, or in other words, have ‘achieved match geekery.’

StaffGeek is available through a subscription-based model that allows for greater efficiency in the hiring practice. Companies already using their technology have cut their hiring costs up to 90 percent and are seeing 10x returns.

“We’re challenging the notion that our industry cannot offer better service at an even better price. We’ve done that and companies are loving it,” added Boyce.
