Vizient, Inc. Assists Minority Business Owners through Executive Training Program

IRVING, Texas--()--Vizient, Inc. continues its work to assist minority business owners by again collaborating with the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance (HSDA), Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College (Tuck) and Novant Health to offer Building a High-Performing Minority Business. This executive training program is specifically designed for owners of minority owned businesses in the health care industry. The program will be held November 13–18, 2016 at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.

“The health care supply chain has unique complexities that can be daunting even for larger suppliers. For minority-owned suppliers, who possess the needed product or service expertise but tend to be smaller in scale, the challenge is often greater. This executive training program helps minority business owners better understand the industry and levels the playing field,” said Mark Cartwright, senior director of supplier diversity at Vizient. “This is our third year collaborating to provide this program, and we are excited to enable the education, training and the important network connections to help them be successful.”

The program’s curriculum has been designed by Tuck, Novant Health, Vizient and HSDA to increase the participant’s skills in the areas of:

  • Strategy development and implementation
  • Analysis of financial statements
  • Managing the “customer asset”
  • Refining the management structure
  • Assessing operations

As part of Vizient’s support of Building a High-Performing Minority Business, and its overall commitment to increasing the level of diversity among suppliers in the health care industry, the company is offering partial scholarships in conjunction with the HSDA for the five day program. Those applicants interested in a scholarship should indicate such when registering for the program. Program registrations are being accepted now and the application is accessible here.
