HOUSTON--()--Just in time for football season and final summer outings, Reliant, an NRG company, brings the NRG Go Portable Power solution to NRG Stadium and locations throughout Katy, Texas. The NRG Go solution, a 2016 Consumer Electronics Show Innovation Awards Honoree, provides the convenience of power on the go to keep people connected and their mobile devices charged anywhere, anytime. Reliant even offers NRG Go as a free benefit to its existing residential and small business electricity customers.

“Everyone knows what ‘power anxiety’ feels like – that acute fear of your phone battery going to zero and being helpless. With Reliant’s NRG Go, people can get the charge they need when they’re away from outlets,” said Elizabeth Killinger, president, Reliant and NRG Retail. “This gives consumers peace of mind so they can take pictures of memorable moments, find their way on maps, share spontaneous interactions and simply stay connected. Our teams are relentless in anticipating and pursuing convenient solutions for Texans, and portable power is another way Reliant is the company customers can count on to power, protect and simplify life.”

The NRG Go solution lets anyone rent a portable power pack from a self-service station, charge their mobile device and then return the palm-sized unit at any NRG Go location. The charging technology works with all iPhone® 4 and later models, as well as most Android™ devices. The power pack has integrated connectors so users do not need additional cables or outlets. Customers simply choose their phone type, complete the touchscreen rental transaction with a credit card and go on their way.

These new stations are in addition to seven existing NRG Go locations across Houston, with the newest NRG Go sites at:

NRG Stadium

  • 12 stations, installed at every ramp on levels one, three and five inside the stadium.
  • Go Pack rentals at NRG Stadium are free for everyone on Houston Texans game days, and anytime for Reliant residential and small business electricity customers, with a refundable deposit upon return of the unit.

City of Katy

  • 6 stations, located at Typhoon Texas (two stations), Hilton Garden Inn, Katy Family YMCA, Little Woodrow’s and No Label Brewing Company for $3 per day.
  • Go Pack rentals from these Katy stations are free for the first day for Reliant residential and small business electricity customers.

The public is invited to share how they stay charged on social media by tagging @reliantenergy and #TakeCharge. For more information on the NRG Go Stations, visit www.nrgGO.com.
