Watercrest of Lake Nona Initiative Supports Orange County Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts Programs

VERO BEACH, Fla.--()--Watercrest of Lake Nona is proud to announce their partnership with Scott Evans, Senior Administrator of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) Visual and Performing Arts, in creating a platform for senior residents to impact enrichment opportunities for students.

Beginning in the fall of 2016, Watercrest of Lake Nona will host community fundraisers to assist area students needing financial assistance to participate in All-County and Florida All-State ensembles. Additionally, Watercrest residents will provide emotional support to students lacking the family network to support their participation in the programs. Residents and their family members may encourage students through letters, cards, and attendance at students’ performing arts concerts.

“The many benefits enjoyed by communities where intergenerational programs are embraced are well known and documented; this is yet another example of Watercrest’s passion to foster meaningful relationships within each community we serve,” says Mariola Rodriguez, Masters in Gerontology, CADDCT, Watercrest of Lake Nona Memory Care Director.

As the developer, operator, and owner of assisted living and memory care communities, Watercrest Senior Living Group champions their Common Unity Initiative, a company-wide program supporting associates and residents in community service and enrichment. Watercrest’s Common Unity program advocates the benefits of continued education programs and encourages a commitment to serving others and fulfilling needs in our hometowns. This innovative partnership provides senior residents and students, with a passion for the arts, the ability to connect through correspondence and attendance at OCPS events.

“Watercrest Senior Living Group is dedicated to connecting people of all ages and we are delighted to serve as a resource for the Orange County Public Schools and their Visual and Performing Arts program,” says Christopher Shepherd, VP of Creative Program Development for Watercrest Senior Living Group.

The visual and performing arts are a universal language and fundamental form of expressive communication. OCPS believes every student deserves the opportunity to develop their innate creativity and to respect the creative expressions of others. OCPS Arts students are provided quality, sequential, standards-based instruction in Dance, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts to develop their skills for careers in the future. Watercrest Senior Living Group is passionate in creating platforms that unleash the potential of all generations and unite them in purpose.
