University of Texas System Selects Maestro Health to Administer Benefit Accounts

Large higher education system seeking to drive higher engagement for nearly 100K benefits-eligible employees

CHICAGO--()--Maestro Health, a leading, all-in employee health and benefits company, today announced it has been selected by the University of Texas System to administer its UT FLEX Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) program for the higher education system’s approximately 93,000 benefits-eligible employees.

Maestro Health, which features a modern HR Operating platform that includes Private Exchange, Benefit Administration, Self-Funding, and Benefit Accounts, will help implement its system across all institutions, including different campus locations, a cancer center, and the university’s medical branch.

Despite current UT FLEX participation above the national average at 25 percent of all eligible employees, UT System knew that existing benefit communications needed a face lift: one that would provide the context and humanized interaction needed to bring healthcare decisions to life. Through Maestro Health’s Benefit Accounts technology and service, the university seeks to improve communication with members – both frequency of correspondence and a range of touchpoints for meaningful engagement – to further increase participation in its FSA programs. The goal signals UT System’s commitment to employee health and wellness with more rigorous offerings and initiatives to educate its employees on their benefit options.

“We are thrilled to work with the University of Texas System, and help drive higher adoption of this under-utilized, commoditized benefit,” said Brandon Wood, President, Benefit Accounts Solutions, Maestro Health. “As one of the largest employers in the U.S., it was seeking a partner that could deliver a high quality customer service experience and personalized messaging using modern approaches to drive improvements in employee engagement. The Maestro Health platform features an intuitive and customized communications strategy, and speaks directly to the diverse demographics across the UT System members.”

Maestro Health and UT System partnered to design personalized communication resources for the UT FLEX program in a way that could change how members view FSA accounts. Features demonstrate the correlation between FSA options and their financial impact for employee networks. In turn, FSA accounts save UT System money, with incentives to lessen its FICA tax match based on employee contributions to each respective FSA account.

“We found in Maestro Health the hands-on partner we needed to communicate across physically dispersed locations, each with their own unique needs,” said Laura Chambers, Director, UT System Office of Employee Benefits. “Maestro Health clearly demonstrated its ability to deliver the technology, customer service, and educational materials to help our members be confident in all that their benefits can offer them. With UT FLEX, powered by Maestro Health, members can easily tap their healthcare and dependent care accounts in a user-friendly portal and mobile app to better understand the value this important program brings to their overall employee benefit package.”

The implementation began in mid-April 2016, initiated with an end goal of completion in time for the Sept. 1 go-live plan year commencement.

The Maestro Health platform also features a portal to aggregate employer information to manage the administration of individual HSA and HRA accounts, all under one integrated platform.
