SHARE Announces Membership in Open Mainframe Project

SHARE joins companies and academic institutions in supporting an open source community

CHICAGO--()--SHARE® is announcing its participation as a member of the Open Mainframe Project, a Linux Foundation Collaborative Project. This innovative project serves as a focal point for the deployment and use of Linux in mainframe computing environments. SHARE stands alongside fellow partners to provide support and increase collaboration among members of the mainframe community.

Other members of the Open Mainframe Project include ADP, Albany State University, BMC Software, CA Technologies, Ubuntu, University of Washington, Compuware, DataKinetics, East Carolina University, Hitachi, IBM, L3C, Marist College, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, RSM Partners, Sine Nomine Associates, SUSE, University of Bedfordshire, and Vicom Infinity.

Through the Open Mainframe Project, the mainframe community is working to develop shared tool sets and resources. The project also serves to form an open source community with participation of industry leaders, end users, solution providers, application developers and systems administrators. The Open Mainframe community is focused on ensuring that Linux on the mainframe is a first-class Linux and Open Source platform to serve the various needs of the enterprise IT industry.
