Erik Huggers Announced as an IBC Conference Keynote Speaker

LONDON--()--IBC announced today that Erik Huggers, President and CEO of Vevo, will deliver a Keynote on Saturday 10 September at its forthcoming IBC2016 Conference.

A long time TV and technology innovation leader both in the US and in Europe, Erik is responsible for all things Vevo with a focus on driving the strategy and growth of the re-boot of the company’s global footprint across product and technology, programming and branding, sales and business development.

As the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform, with over 17 billion monthly views globally, Vevo is an exciting addition to the IBC2016 Conference; Erik is known for disrupting content delivery and media services through next generation user experiences and technologies.

In this keynote Saturday September 10 2016 session, Erik will share key research insights into how the online generation listens to and views music and how music has provided an enormous catalyst for growth in streaming media. Music is one of the top drivers of views on YouTube, many of them Vevo videos. Vevo is set for an ambitious plan for growth, including owned and operated apps for IOS, Apple TV, Android and the Web and original video programming plans including branded content and scripted and un-scripted short-form originals, social features and a subscription offering.

Erik Huggers’ previous roles include Senior Vice President at Verizon Communications Inc. and President of the Media division at Intel. At Intel, he helped develop its OnCue system, which was later acquired by Verizon. Before Intel, Erik was an executive board member responsible for the BBC’s Future Media & Technology division, where he launched BBC iPlayer, one of the first premium online video services. Erik has also held senior roles at Microsoft Corp. and at Endemol Entertainment.
