LightCyber Brings Behavioral Attack Detection to German Businesses to Thwart Data Breaches by Finding Attackers Early

Establishes European Headquarters, Appoints Executive Leadership and Inaugurates EU Data Cloud

MUNICH--()--LightCyber, a leading provider of Behavioral Attack Detection solutions, today announced that it is making its unique solution for detecting active network attacks available for the first time to the German/Austrian/Swiss (DACH) market. Early detection of network attackers gives organizations the ability to curtail data breaches, theft of intellectual property and more. LightCyber, with its dual headquarters in Israel and Silicon Valley, recently established its European regional headquarters in the Netherlands and inaugurated an EU-based implementation of its Magna Cloud Expert System to comply with the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC). Security veteran Paul Couturier has joined LightCyber as EMEA Vice President.

This year the World Economic Forum listed cybersecurity as one of the greatest threats to businesses around the world1. Lloyd’s of London estimated that cyberattacks cost businesses $400B per year2. Each year, cybercrime and industrial espionage cause EUR 50 billion of damage to the German economy according to the head of the cybercrime group at the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).3 Despite such results, Germany and other countries are likely only seeing the tip of the iceberg from network attacks. In the UK, for instance, only 28% of cyberattacks are reported, according to information from the Institute of Directors4.

Stefan Strobel, chief executive officer of cirosec, one of LightCyber’s already established German channel partners, believes that there will be great opportunities for the solution in the German market. “The feedback from our customers is very promising,” said Strobel.

The LightCyber Magna platform uses behavioral profiling to learn what is normal on the network and endpoints, and thereby detect anomalous attacker behaviors that are by-necessity required to perpetrate a successful breach or conduct malicious goals, including command and control, reconnaissance, lateral movement and data exfiltration. These behaviors can be identified early to reduce attacker dwell time and curtail the activity. At the same time, Magna can identify harmful activity from insiders—rogue or unaware employees or contractors—that is either intentionally malicious or unknowingly dangerous. Magna presents a small number of actionable alerts with supporting contextual and investigative details to greatly enhance the efficiency of a security operations team in its detection and remediation operations.

LightCyber works exclusively through a local security reseller channel. It will unveil its channel program for the DACH region shortly. By partnering with expert resellers and consultants, LightCyber can better meet the needs of companies and organizations and scale its resources to meet the market demand across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

To meet EU data laws, LightCyber has established its Magna Cloud Expert System within the EU to provide augmentative automated investigation detail and threat intelligence to support results found by Magna appliances. Within each network, Magna only works with metadata and does not collect any network packet details or personal information.

“We are pleased to be serving the DACH market and working with local experts to solve the data breach crisis,” said Paul Couturier, EMEA vice president, LightCyber. “Undetected, a network attack leads to incalculable risk and damage. Today less than one percent of large businesses have the ability to detect a network intruder that is in the process of carrying out an attack. We want to help organizations turn the tables on cyberattacks.”
