Viejas Partners with REACH Air to Provide Medical Transport Services to San Diego County

SAN DIEGO--()--The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians and REACH Air Medical Services (REACH) recently opened a new helicopter base on the Viejas Reservation. Helicopter services will provide life-saving medical support to local communities, as well as offer secondary support to REACH bases in San Diego, Imperial, and Riverside counties.

“We value our partnership with REACH and we are thankful for the opportunity to play a part in expanding medical services to San Diego families,” commented Viejas Tribal Chairman Robert Welch.

To commemorate the partnership between REACH and the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 3, 2016 on the Viejas Tribal Reservation.

About the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, one of the remaining 12 bands of the Kumeyaay Indian Nation, resides on a 1,600-acre reservation in the Viejas Valley, east of the community of Alpine in San Diego County, California.

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is a sovereign governmental jurisdiction over its land and Tribal Members. The Viejas Band has a “trust” relationship with the federal government, enforces federal laws, and participates in issues relating to its land and people, on a government-to-government basis.

The Tribe is known widely for its generosity to support their neighbors, the San Diego Community and numerous charities. Their financial and in-kind donations are among the many ways the Tribal Members give back and share in projects and activities to improve the lives of all San Diegans.
