OLDWICK, N.J.--()--In this A.M.BestTV episode, ahead of a May 17 A.M. “The first part of the afternoon will be dedicated to discussing the new Best Credit Rating Methodology (BCRM),” said DeRose. “A.M. Best’s Thomas Mount, vice president, Jim Gillard, group vice president and myself will be going through the BCRM, discussing various aspects of it and what it will mean for rated companies going forward. The second part of the day will be dedicated to discussing reinsurance market trends and how they are impacting the Bermuda market.”

Addressing the concerns A.M. Best has with the reinsurance market, Reisner said, “When the pressures do not let up, management teams put in cost cutting strategies and capital management strategies, trying to keep the equity right size for the capital that they want to put out into the marketplace. However, after three and four years of this, it becomes harder and harder to execute those plans, it is a challenge and the bar gets higher.”

A.M. Best currently has a negative outlook on the ratings of the global reinsurance market.
