PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation today announced the appointment of Sasha Abrams as general counsel and secretary to the board.

Not only does she bring the legal acumen required, she has a deep understanding of the foundation’s governance, programs, and grantmaking systems and processes,” said Harvey V. Fineberg, M.D., Ph.D., president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. “We will benefit from her demonstrated ability to work across the organization, with our grantees and with our board of trustees.”
For the past decade, Abrams has been instrumental in building the legal function for the foundation. Working closely with grantmakers and grantee organizations, she has managed some of the most complex matters for the foundation. Along with lawyers at several peer foundations, she is a co-creator of LearnFoundationLaw.org, a free training resource for U.S. foundations. She has served as acting general counsel and secretary since February 2016.

Prior to joining the Moore Foundation, Sasha was a public finance attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Before law school, she worked at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and the San Mateo County Own-Recognizance Program.
Sasha received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Stanford University and a law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. She is board chair for Silicon Valley Shakespeare.
