Symantec Recognizes 1&1 with Game Changer Award For Global Security Leadership and Innovation

One of the world’s leading Web hosting provider partners with Symantec to deliver Encryption Everywhere across 19 Million Domains

MENLO PARK, Calif.--()--Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ:SYMC), a global leader in cybersecurity, today recognized 1&1 (www.1and1.com), one of the world’s leading Web hosting providers, with the Symantec Game Changer award. The Symantec Game Changer awards celebrate hosting providers like 1&1 who are committed to making the internet more secure for small and medium sized business by providing hosting solutions that are exceedingly powerful and secure. As one of the first hosting providers to participate in Symantec’s Encryption Everywhere program in Germany, 1&1 is helping to secure 19 million domain names on the internet. Furthermore, 1&1 also supports its customers in the U.S., Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Canada and Mexico in better protecting their websites as well.

In March of 2016, Symantec announced its intention to help secure every legitimate website and web application by 2018. Symantec’s Encryption Everywhere program gives hosting providers a single platform to deliver one of the most comprehensive security portfolio to their customers. 1&1 will offer a wide range of SSL certificates powered by Symantec, fulfilling its customers’ needs for encryption. 1&1 will also offer a number of premium security packages with increasingly stronger levels of website validation, protection, and trust seals.

“With only 3% of the web encrypted today, it is critical that our partners like 1&1 take the lead in educating their customers on security choices and making it easy to do the right thing,” said Roxane Divol, senior vice president and GM of Website Security at Symantec. “When we launched Encryption Everywhere with the intention of changing the game for internet security, 1&1 immediately saw the value in partnering and has moved quickly to integrate Symantec website security solutions into their portfolio. I am thrilled to award them for the work they are doing to help secure their customers.”

As part of the award, Symantec will donate $5,000 to a non-profit organization on behalf of the Game Changer recipient. 1&1 has requested that the monies go to the United Internet for Unicef Foundation, which creates a protective environment for children throughout the world so they can grow up in health and safety.

“We are excited to partner with Symantec to provide our customers with Symantec’s comprehensive and trusted security solutions for websites,” said Robert Hoffmann, CEO 1&1 Internet SE. “The internet has fundamentally changed the way we live, and we must continuously find ways to protect our data. Thus, cooperating with Symantec enables us to join forces for a safer internet by protecting considerably more websites than is the case today.”
