TSP Sponsors Fourth-Annual Leighton’s Ride Event

Charity Motorcycle Ride on May 14 in North Texas Will Raise Funds to Support Families of NICU Babies

DALLAS--()--TSP (Technology Service Professionals), a leading provider of information technology services to Fortune 500 companies, announced it will be the platinum sponsor of the fourth-annual Leighton’s Ride for the second year in a row.

The fundraising motorcycle ride will occur on May 14, starting at Old Celina Park and finishing at Celina Town Square, where an open-to-the-public celebration will take place. The annual fundraising event will benefit Leighton’s Gift, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2013 with a mission to turn a tragedy into something positive. The foundation’s current project is dedicated to installing Angel Eye webcam systems into the NICU at Texas Health Plano – helping parents with infants at the NICU to see their babies at any time from their computer, smart phone, tablet or other web-enabled device.

Leighton’s Gift was co-founded in 2013 by Chris Skaggs, TSP’s senior director of talent and brand management, and his wife Amy Skaggs, after their experience in the NICU with their son Jaxon, and late daughter, Leighton.

“Leighton’s Ride is a wonderful charity event that supports a cause close to our hearts,” said Frank Gonzalez, co-founder and CEO, TSP. “We love giving back to the community in various ways, and Leighton’s Ride is one of our favorite events to participate in, since it directly supports a cause that’s very important to one of our own #TSProckstars, Chris, and his wife Amy.”

Leighton’s Ride is the main source of fundraising for the nonprofit each year. Login services and webcam use are offered free of charge to parents with infants in the NICU at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital - Plano, the first hospital in Collin County with NICU webcams. The webcams also allow parents to speak to their child, facilitating the bonding experience when parents can’t physically be at their bedside.

This year, the organization is reaching out to people who might not own or ride a motorcycle by having a formal after-party with live music featuring Karli Chayne, and food available from In-N-Out Burger. A raffle with prizes will take place to finish the event. The fourth annual charity ride will be the biggest and best yet.

“We’re so grateful to TSP for their continued support of our organization,” said Chris Skaggs. “To date, we have provided NICU webcams for more than half of Texas Health Plano’s 45 beds. It means so much that TSP continues to rally together as a family to support our cause, and prove that our company’s vision of investing time and money into the communities where we live, work and play is more than just words.”

About Leighton’s Gift

Leighton’s Gift is 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2013 by Chris and Amy Skaggs with a mission to turn a tragedy into something positive. After the premature birth and subsequent neonatal intensive care (NICU) admission of both Jaxon and Leighton, they were inspired to give back. Jaxon came home from the NICU after 74 long days; however, Leighton earned her angel wings three short weeks after birth due to a Late-Onset Group B Strep infection. It was the couple’s desire to create a lasting legacy for Leighton that was the main driving force behind the creation of the foundation. To learn more, visit http://leightonsgift.com/.
