CHEVY CHASE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, Inc., a leading underwriting manager, announced today that Mark A. Smith has joined the firm as its Chief Underwriting Officer.
In his new role, Mr. Smith will be responsible for leading and developing underwriting strategy across the firm. He will maintain full responsibility for all aspects of Schinnerer’s underwriting operations, including the continued refinement and cultivation of long-term underwriting strategies. Mr. Smith will be based in the firm’s Chevy Chase, Maryland, headquarters and will report to Brian Hanuschak, president of Schinnerer.

Most recently, Mr. Smith served as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer for Samsung Fire & Marine where he was responsible for the firm’s US expansion and growth. Prior to this he was senior vice president with Tower Group Companies, responsible for the growth and profitability of the firm’s extensive portfolio. He also held a leadership position at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company and actuarial positions at First Insurance Company of Hawaii and other carriers.
