April 12 Sacramento Press Club Lunch Features Political Powerhouses

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--The Sacramento Press Club’s April 12 luncheon focuses on women in California politics with political powerhouses.

Whether working for governors or for party leaders on both sides of the aisle, each has a unique insider perspective on the inner workings of California’s government and politics. They may not always agree on the issues, but these women all support the #WinLikeAGirl movement hatched in Sacramento to ensure more female political experts are quoted in news stories and featured on panels.

This panel will feature a discussion of the most current campaign and political issues, from the role California is playing in this year’s presidential primaries to the November ballot sure to be packed with voter initiatives.

As part of the #WinLikeAGirl movement, the panelists will discuss how women in politics can be better sources for the media, and the reception the effort has received.

The panelists are:

--Nancy McFadden, executive secretary to Gov. Jerry Brown (D). McFadden is a former senior vice president at PG&E Corp., and served in a senior adviser in the administrations of former California Gov. Gray Davis (D), President Bill Clinton (D), and Vice President Al Gore (D).

--Cassandra Walker Pye, founder of 3.14 Communications where she advises businesses, trade associations, nonprofits and individuals seeking to influence stakeholders. She served as deputy chief of staff to former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) and has held senior positions at APCO Worldwide, California Chamber of Commerce, and California Retailers Association.

--Angie Tate, chief finance officer for the California Democratic Party. Tate has served in this role during three of the most successful election cycles in the party’s history -- 2010, 2012, and 2014. She has worked for chairman John Burton for 18 years, including as Senate President Pro Tempore in the State Capitol.

--Sabrina Demayo Lockhart, communications director for the California Independent Petroleum Association. Lockhart is a former television journalist and spent a decade working in the State Capitol in senior roles for Schwarzenegger, former Assembly Republican Leaders Kevin McCarthy and Connie Conway and former Sen. Dave Cogdill (R).
