Cooper Tire and Expedition Portal Team Up to Inspire Adventure with Cooper Discoverer’s Contest

FINDLAY, Ohio--()--Cooper Tire is teaming up with Expedition Portal, an online community of adventure travelers known as “overlanders,” for the Cooper Discoverer’s Contest, which begins today at www.ExpeditionPortal.com/Cooper and runs through July 29. While “overlanders” generally explore the world on motorcycles or four-wheel-drive vehicles, anyone with a zest for the outdoors can enter the contest by submitting personal stories of adventure—tales of the trail—for a chance to win a set of Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires or even a trip to the Overland Expo East 2016 near Asheville, N.C. Expedition Portal is part of Overland International, Inc.

To enter, simply write a tale of the trail—a minimum of 600 words—and submit at least four accompanying photos on the Expedition Portal forum at www.ExpeditionPortal.com/Cooper. Entries must use the words “Cooper Discoverer” in the title and in the story. Forum members will vote for their favorite stories. Each month of the contest, a lucky entrant will win a set of five Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires. At the end of the contest, one grand prize winner will win a set of five Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires and will also receive a trip to Overland Expo East 2016.

Introduced more than 40 years ago, Cooper Tire designated its light truck line under the “Discoverer” name as a tribute to the company’s excellence in providing tires that allow outdoor enthusiasts to explore off-road territory. The Discoverer line’s latest addition—the Discoverer STT Pro—rolled out in 2015, gaining accolades from the off-road community for its serious traction and toughness, as well as an uncharacteristically quiet highway ride.

“Exploring and conquering new challenges is the essence of the Discoverer line,” said Jessica Egerton, Cooper’s Director of Brand Development. “Expedition Portal is the ideal community for Cooper to connect with and encourage dedicated overlanders to get outside and keep discovering. We hope this contest brings that spirit of adventure to life and rewards those that love the outdoors as much as we do at Cooper.”

“With more than 100,000 community members who are passionate about overland travel, we’re excited to offer Expedition Portal members an incentive to continue exploring and sharing their stories through the Cooper Discoverer contest,” said Scott Brady, Chief Executive Officer of Overland International. “While some roads might not be rough or technically challenging, they are the means to an end, with the true pursuit being experiencing and learning about the world. We feel this effort with Cooper will inspire that.”
