Mobile app purchase propels GEICO to 14 million policies in force

MACON, Ga.--()--With the touch of a screen on his smartphone, Christopher Stevens made GEICO history, propelling the company to the 14 million policies-in-force milestone. The Hixson, Tenn., native purchased the record-breaking policy after buying a new car the day before Valentine's Day.

"In the midst of test driving cars and thinking about Valentine's Day plans, I uploaded the GEICO mobile app to my smartphone and purchased car insurance right on the spot," said Stevens. "Using the mobile app was quick and easy. I was able to get a quote and have insurance in a matter of minutes, so that definitely won me over."

Stevens was out shopping for a new vehicle. After finding and buying the car he wanted, he compared insurance coverage options and pricing discounts with a few other insurance companies. Stevens decided to go with GEICO because the sales process on the mobile app was seamless from beginning to end.

"This was the first time that I have ever purchased car insurance using a mobile app," said Stevens. "It was definitely a great experience because the app is very intuitive and all the information was readily accessible."

As for helping GEICO reach its historic milestone, Stevens had no idea that he had just purchased GEICO's 14 millionth policy. “When I was told of the good news, you can imagine I was a bit surprised. The whole thing is awesome."
