Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Starts Tea Ceremony Experience, Responding to Demand of Overseas Visitors

TOKYO--()--Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo (KPH), one of Japan’s most prestigious international hotels located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, will begin offering overseas visitors and hotel guests the opportunity to experience traditional Japanese tea ceremony at the “Sho-fu-an” tea ceremony room located on the 10th floor within our hotel beginning from April 18, 2016. Tea ceremonies will be held four times a day, five days a week, excluding Thursdays and Sundays. A fee of JPY 2,000 per guest will be charged to hold a 30 minute experience of tea ceremony. The tea ceremony also includes English explanations of the various utensils and practices of the tea ceremony.

Visitors from over 100 countries around the world, currently account for over 70% of all guests staying at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo. In order to satisfy the demands of our overseas guests, our hotel provides complimentary Wi-Fi service, exchange service for over 12 foreign currencies, traditional Japanese art exhibitions, opportunities to try on traditional Japanese wedding “kimonos,” live Japanese harp “koto” music, and other opportunities to experience Japanese culture. As part of these efforts to inform overseas visitors about Japanese culture and due to the strong response similar tea ceremonies have received in the past, our hotel has decided to conduct tea ceremonies on a regularly scheduled basis. Moreover, these tea ceremonies are available to visitors who are not staying at our hotel, because the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo is one of the only hotels within central Tokyo with tea ceremony facilities.
