Intermountain Healthcare Enters into Agreement to Use Ayasdi’s Clinical Variation Management Software to Accelerate Data Insights

MENLO PARK, Calif. & SALT LAKE CITY--()--Ayasdi, a developer of machine intelligence applications for healthcare, and Intermountain Healthcare, an integrated health system based in Utah, have entered into an agreement to deploy Ayasdi’s Clinical Variation Management software to accelerate the insights Intermountain is able to gain from its rich data set.

Utilizing Ayasdi’s application for clinical variation management—which leverages machine learning and topological data analysis to extract meaningful insights from billions of data points—Intermountain will aim to more rapidly gain data insights that can help lead to better health outcomes at more sustainable costs.

“Intermountain has led the industry when it comes to understanding and managing clinical variation. It is one of the key principles we have applied in delivering value based care to our patient population,” said Lee Pierce, Chief Data Officer, Intermountain Healthcare. “We have been impressed by Ayasdi’s technology and are optimistic for the impact this could have on our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible.”

What makes Ayasdi’s application unique is its ability to accelerate data insights by drawing on clinical data directly from health networks’ integrated systems of record.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Intermountain in their quest to continually enhance their understanding and management of clinical variation. Their exceptional leadership on the subject coupled with their pre-eminent data architecture made them an ideal environment for Ayasdi to prove out its approach,” said Mary Hardy, Ayasdi’s Vice President of Healthcare. “Understanding and managing clinical variation remains one of the great challenges facing healthcare today and we are pleased that Intermountain recognized Ayasdi’s ability to accelerate the pace at which Intermountain gains insights from its data.”

Both Ayasdi (Kiosks 14042 and 14084) in the Clinical & Business Intelligence Knowledge Center) and Intermountain Healthcare (Booth 1632) with be exhibiting at the 2016 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS16), February 29-March 4, in Las Vegas.

Jennifer Gamble, an Ayasdi Data Scientist, will deliver a presentation on managing and understanding clinical variation at HIMSS16 on Tuesday, March 1, at 1pm at kiosk 14084.

About Ayasdi

Ayasdi is on a mission to transform healthcare by developing machine intelligent applications for the largest, most sophisticated health systems and payer organizations. Ayasdi’s suite of healthcare applications examine billions of data elements from organizations’ own systems of record to uncover pathways of the highest quality, source evidence-based patient care; reduce claims denials; define insurance members’ interests, loyalty, and health; and discover genetic relationships to develop more efficacious and targeted drug therapies. Developed by Stanford computational mathematicians, Ayasdi amplifies machine-learning techniques with topological data analysis - automating and accelerating the extraction of knowledge from even the most complex healthcare data.

Ayasdi is funded by leading venture capitalists including Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, Khosla Ventures, Institutional Venture Partners, FLOODGATE, GE Ventures, Citi Ventures, Centerview Capital and DraperNexus. Within healthcare, the company has collaborated with Intermountain Health, Mercy, Mt. Sinai, UCSF, UBIOPRED and two of the four largest payers on their most difficult and value-laden challenges.
