UL EHS Sustainability Appoints Medical Advisory Board

Multi-disciplinary healthcare leaders to provide strategic direction, expertise and insights to organization

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--()--UL EHS Sustainability (formerly UL Workplace Health & Safety) today announced it has named five leading healthcare experts to its Medical Advisory Board. Four physicians, Drs. Ron Loeppke, Anthony Harris, Steven Crawford, Richard Lewis, and Suzanne Bylund, a certified nurse-specialist, will serve as consultants for the company to help identify trends, regulations, and issues impacting the delivery of safety, occupational, and environmental medicine and management services in the workplace.

The valuable insight of our Medical Advisory Board will complement and further enhance the expertise of our exceptional subject matter experts and advance the innovative workforce health solutions we offer.”

The Medical Advisory Board will support UL EHS Sustainability by advising on the clinical and operational aspects of the company’s software and other applications. Additionally, the board will collaborate strategically with the company’s leaders on product enhancements, while also contributing to the company’s thought leadership content by writing articles, facilitating webinars and speaking on topics related to their specific areas of expertise.

UL EHS Sustainability’s Medical Advisory Board is comprised of the following professionals:

Ron Loeppke, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.O.E.M., F.A.C.P.M.

Ron Loeppke, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.O.E.M., F.A.C.P.M. is Vice-Chairman of U.S. Preventive Medicine (USPM), and serves as Co-Chair of the company’s International Advisory Board. USPM provides primary, secondary and tertiary prevention services for all size employers, health plans, and government entities as well as directly to consumers. Dr. Loeppke is Immediate-past President of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) as well as a member of the ACOEM Board of Directors. He is the Co-Chair of the International Occupational Medical Society Collaborative, a global initiative involving over 24 countries. He also served as Co-Chairman of the ACOEM Section on Health and Productivity, which is actively involved in defining and establishing measurement criteria for research on health and productivity and best practice case studies in workplace wellness. He is also Chairman of the CDC Diabetes at Work group as part of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health National Diabetes Education Program. Dr. Loeppke was the Founder, CEO, and President of the Health and Productivity Corporation of America, headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Anthony N. Harris, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., C-M.R.O.

Anthony N. Harris, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., C-M.R.O., is the Medical Director of Community Occupational Medicine, LLC, a rapidly growing full service occupational medicine provider with seven locations and additional on-site services throughout northern Indiana. Dr. Harris is Board Certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and has worked as an independent healthcare consultant with focus upon performing market research, product design, and business modeling strategy. He earned his Medical Degree and Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University School of Medicine and Kelly School of Business, and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is also fellowship trained in Biodesign and Innovation at the University of Missouri. Dr. Harris has co-invented & helped procure U.S. and international medical device patents, served on a gubernatorial appointed high-tech & life-science State Board in Missouri, and currently serves on several Boards of Directors, including LARC, a not-for-profit company in Chicago focused on soil lead remediation and public awareness thereof. He has cofounded and served as interim-CEO of two medical device start-ups, one of which, EternoGen, LLC, he currently serves as chairman of the board.

Steven Crawford, M.D., C.I.M.E.

Steven Crawford, M.D., C.I.M.E., is Corporate Medical Director, Meridian Occupational Health, a multi-site hospital-affiliated occupational medicine practice at the Jersey Shore. He has been practicing occupational medicine for 25 years. He also practices and serves as a clinical instructor in Sports Medicine at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He is a certified Independent Medical Examiner, certified as a Medical Examiner for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) for the Department of Transportation (DOT) and a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO). In addition, he has a background in emergency medicine and experience in addiction medicine. Among other professional activities, Dr. Crawford is president of the board of the National Association of Occupational Health Professionals.

Richard Lewis, M.D., M.P.H.

Richard Lewis, M.D., M.P.H., is an occupational medicine physician in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Lewis has practiced occupational medicine for more than 25 years, providing clinical services and medical expertise to companies, academic institutions and research organizations. His professional activities include the development of medical surveillance and fitness assessment programs for workers exposed to hazardous conditions and/or conducting safety-sensitive work. He also is interested in promoting workforce well-being through sustainable behavior change and lifestyle modifications. He currently serves as an associate medical director for Union Pacific Railroad. His certifications include American Board of Preventive Medicine in occupational medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Suzann Bylund, R.N., C.P.D.M.

Suzann Bylund, R.N., C.P.D.M. is currently a Senior Consultant with Flatwater Consulting, a full-service consulting firm providing ongoing support to clients in the area of regulatory compliance, loss prevention, data analysis, and social media strategy. She addresses occupational health programs and loss prevention activities for healthcare clients.

Ms. Bylund has extensive clinical, operational, and senior leadership experience. Prior to being at the System Office of Ascension she was the Director, Employee/Occupational Health Services and Emergency Department at a Daughters of Charity hospital in Northern California.
