Honda Canada Begins 2016 with Strong Performances from Core Models

  • CR-V and Pilot set new January records
  • Civic takes an early lead in compact segment

MARKHAM, Ontario--()--Combined January sales of 10,026 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 33% increase over last year’s sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported January sales of 8,963 units, up 37% over last year. The Acura Division reported January sales of 1,063 units, up 6% over last year.

“Coming off the best sales year in Honda’s history, 2015 success has carried over to the new year with double digit gains in January,” said Dave Gardner, Senior Vice President of Operations, Honda Canada Inc. “We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead, filled with a wide array of redesigned and highly anticipated Honda and Acura products coming to the Canadian market, including the innovative Honda Ridgeline pick-up truck and the bold NSX supercar from Acura.”

“We are delighted the all-new Honda Civic was recently named North American Car of the Year. Being built at our manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario and the number one car for Canadians for 18 consecutive years has cemented Civic’s importance in Canada,” added Gardner.

January Highlights:

  • Honda Civic, Accord and Pilot all posted double digit gains over 2015 results.
  • The Canadian-built CR-V saw a 9% increase on sales of 2,039 units, setting a January sales record.
  • Honda Pilot set a new January sales record with 506 units sold.
  • Acura MDX finished January with sales of 364 units, up 8% over 2015.
