Edelson PC Names Two New Partners, Begins Expanding in San Francisco

Nation’s Leading Consumer Privacy Law Firm Promotes Roger Perlstadt and Eve-Lynn Rapp to Partner; Hires Associate Aaron Blumenthal in San Francisco

CHICAGO & SAN FRANCISCO--()--Edelson PC, a leading national plaintiffs’ class action firm recognized for its groundbreaking work representing consumers in technology and privacy cases against some of the country’s largest tech companies, announced today it has named two new Partners, Roger Perlstadt and Eve-Lynn Rapp.

“Eve and Roger exemplify the qualities that have propelled Edelson’s success from our earliest days – they’re bold, creative thinkers who not only know the law inside and out, they get the tech industry,” said founder Jay Edelson. “We’re pleased to now call them Partners and look forward to watching them pave the way in litigating some of the most innovative and important cases in consumer class action law.”

Perlstadt is based in the Chicago office. He focuses on appeals and critical motions and has briefed and argued in numerous federal and state appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court. At Edelson, he led the briefing in Robins v Spokeo, Inc. before the Supreme Court, as well as secured a major victory in Kolinek v. Walgreen Co. that lead to an industry-first multi-million dollar settlement. Prior to joining Edelson in 2013, Perlstadt served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, an Associate at Miller Shakman & Beem, and a law clerk to United States District Court Judge Elaine Bucklo. He holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago, where he was a member of the Law Review, and a B.A. in mathematics from Carleton College.

Rapp, who will also serve as Hiring Partner, focuses on consumer technology class actions with an emphasis on cell phone telephony, Telephone Consumer Protection Act cases, and “negative option” enrollment consumer fraud cases. She helped secure the largest adversarially certified class ever in TCPA litigation in Birchmeier et al. v. Caribbean Cruise Line, Inc., as well as led the multi-million dollar settlement of one of the only “Do Not Call” TCPA cases to settle, which will likely afford class members as much as $5,000 individually. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Rapp worked at a Chicago class action firm, served as an extern in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as well as for Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, and clerked for Judges Yvonne Lewis and Plummer Lott in the Supreme Court of New York. She holds a J.D. and a Certificate in Trial Advocacy from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where she graduated cum laude and was a member of the International Law Review, and has a B.A. in political science from University of Colorado, Boulder, where she graduated with distinction.

Rapp will relocate from the Chicago office to the firm’s recently established San Francisco office, where the firm’s ambitious expansion plans are well underway. In December, Aaron Blumenthal, an Order of the Coif graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Law, joined the San Francisco office as an Associate, and this year’s summer associates will participate in an innovative program in which they split their time between San Francisco and Chicago.

“Our significant growth over the past two years, which we expect to continue, means we’re looking to fill numerous positions across the firm,” commented Jay Edelson. “Eve will oversee this personnel expansion from San Francisco, where we’re particularly enthusiastic about tapping into the wealth of entrepreneurial, forward-thinking legal talent.”
