Legend 3D Reports Record Growth, Revenue; Company Wins Prestigious Lumiere Award

Leading Visual Effects, Virtual Reality and 3D Conversion Firm Expects to Double Workforce in Los Angeles, Toronto Hubs

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--()--Legend 3D, a market-leading visual effects, virtual reality and 3D conversion company, today reported record end-of-year growth in sales, operating results and overall revenue. The company also proudly announced the launch of two new divisions to better serve Legend’s major studio clients in Hollywood and around the world.

Legend’s sales increased significantly in 2015, and the company achieved record operating results during that time, according to Mark Steffler, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. In addition, Legend has secured new contracts through 2017 that it projects will increase the company’s sales substantially this year.

The company also announced the launch of two new service lines: visual effects (VFX) and virtual reality (VR). Legend’s VFX offerings include CG content, dynamics and FX simulation, digital makeup, rig removal, compositing, pre-vis and post-vis, and camera/object tracking. Its VR service line includes concept pitches and creative direction, VR direction and on-set consulting, motion tracking and stabilization, camera rig removal, 360-degree capture and live stitching, 2D and 3D fine stitching, 2D and 3D pre-rendered CG content, editorial conform and color grading, and transcoding.

“Last year was our biggest yet in terms of 3D conversion revenue, which underscores the increasing and persistent demand in the marketplace for quality work in the conversion industry,” said Matt Akey, Executive Vice President of Production for Legend 3D. “Now more than ever, consumers are clamoring for a more interactive, cutting-edge experience at the movies, and we look forward to expanding our virtual reality and visual effects divisions to meet that need.”

To meet the surging demand for its 3D, VFX, and VR services, the company plans to significantly expand operations at both its Los Angeles and Toronto hubs.

“We’re thrilled to be in the position to create even more jobs for talented VFX and VR professionals in both our Los Angeles and Toronto locations,” Steffler said. “The integration of VFX and VR into our already-comprehensive platform of client offerings makes Legend 3D very competitive in the marketplace.”

In addition, Legend received the Advanced Imaging Society’s prestigious Lumiere Award for 3D Scene of the Year for its work in the film “The Walk” at the 7th Annual Creative Arts Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 27. The company has won two other Lumiere Awards in the past year for Outstanding Achievement in Software Development for 3D and Virtual Reality.

Legend, whose clients include an array of Hollywood’s top studios, holds 23 patents in five countries for its advanced technology and has long been recognized as the definitive market leader for conversion and the use of visual effects and virtual reality in filmmaking.
