LAS VEGAS--()--TCL®, one of the fastest growing TV brands in the U.S., today announced a collaboration with Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) to enable industry-leading high-dynamic range (HDR) performance in the new TCL 65” X1 4K Ultra HD TVs. As part of TCL’s new QUHD family of products, TCL also announced today at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the 65’’ X1 is the first of the X1 series to be launched in the U.S. market later this year.

In a demo shown at TCL’s CES Press Day event, Dolby will feature its groundbreaking Dolby Vision HDR technology, delivering brighter highlights, more light-to-dark contrast and colors never seen before on today’s standard TVs. To fully experience the HDR performance, the TCL X1 series is equipped with an Ultra High Definition (Ultra HD) 4K display with wide color gamut performance powered by quantum dot technology. With up to 1,000 nits peak brightness and 288 zones of direct-lit LED local dimming, the X1 series will offer an unparalleled level of dynamic contrast and precise control of light and dark for greater color resolution and clarity.

“With our latest X1 series, we integrated best-in-class technologies across HDR, quantum dot and 4K Ultra HD for the best viewing experience with the most vivid colors, striking contrasts and crisp resolutions,” said Chris Larson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, TCL North America. “Dolby Vision is leading the market in HDR technology and, coupled with a wide selection of premium HDR streaming content, takes the X1 series to the next level of performance.”

Dolby Vision on TCL TVs transforms the TV experience with dramatic imaging, including incredible brightness, contrast and color. The X1 series with Dolby Vision HDR technology incorporates brightness up to 40 times more intense than today’s standard TV sets, maintaining lifelike color and detail, while the deep darks provide a new level of richness and precision. With more vivid and real imaging, viewers experience new details and nuanced textures, while objects have a subtle three-dimensional feel. The result is a refined, lifelike image that elevates the home entertainment experience.

“Dolby is excited that TCL will be bringing the 65” X1 television with Dolby Vision to market in North America,” said Roland Vlaicu, Vice President, Consumer Imaging, Dolby Laboratories. “Our commitment has always been to revolutionize the way consumers experience content in the home, and with partners such as TCL, we are able to achieve that goal.”

TCL and Dolby are collaborating with major streaming service providers, including VUDU, to provide the new TVs with direct access to the latest HDR premium content from leading studios.

“VUDU is synonymous with a premium home entertainment experience, and we are proud to offer content in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR,” said Amit Balan, Head of Marketing and Merchandising, VUDU. “By collaborating with innovators like Dolby and TCL, we ensure we can continue delivering the best of home cinema to our customers.”

The new X1 series brings together the ultimate picture quality experience, premium audio performance and stylish design to create an upscale TV experience. By integrating groundbreaking HDR display technology and QUHD resolution and display features, the 65” X1 delivers wide color gamut for more realistic colors, brighter highlights and increased light-to-dark contrast. The new TCL X1 series also enables access to external devices with the TV’s advanced HDMI connectivity.

The new TCL X1 series with Dolby Vision will be available in the U.S. in the second half of 2016.
