Sailthru Welcomes Jeff Jarvis, Larry Kramer and Peter Horan to a Fireside Chat on the Future of Media on December 8, 2015

Publishing veterans to discuss major trends in audience development, consumer attention, and media monetization; attendees to gain insights to boost revenue in 2016

NEW YORK--()--Sailthru, the customer retention platform for the world’s top media and retail companies, today announced that journalism professor and author Jeff Jarvis will join Larry Kramer, former president and publisher of USA Today and founder of MarketWatch Inc., and Peter Horan, co-founder of Horan MediaTech Advisors and former CEO of About.com, for a breakfast fireside chat on The Future of Media in New York City on Tuesday, December 8th at City Winery.

With the constant evolution of consumer behavior and preferences, publishers continue to struggle to increase revenue. According to Pew Research Center’s State of the News Media 2015, 39 of the top 50 comScore digital news sites receive more traffic to their sites and applications from mobile devices than from desktop, yet mobile visitors spend less time per visit. Additionally, the report identified a major gap in digital monetization: while digital ad revenue across all media grew 18% in 2014, just five companies took in half of all digital ad revenue, leaving traditional outlets with little growth in digital.

“Both consumers and advertisers have a vast array of choices that grow by the minute,” said Horan. “Publishers must rethink their content, distribution and monetization strategies from the ground up. I am looking forward to a frank and wide-ranging discussion.”

The Future of Media event offers publishers the opportunity to hear from Larry Kramer, who has over 40 years of experience in the journalism, media and publishing industries, and Peter Horan, a seasoned entrepreneur and investor in media, internet and technology companies, about the strategies necessary to thrive amidst dramatic change.

“Human attention is at an all-time low, brought on by massive shifts in media consumption habits, device proliferation, and the atomization of content,” said Eric Porres, Sailthru CMO. “For publishers to succeed in this new era, they need the best strategies to grow audiences and promote long-term relationships. That’s why we’re delighted to bring together three of the smartest minds in media to help chart a path forward to success.”
