Cambridge President Amy Webber Named to InvestmentNews “Women to Watch” List

FAIRFIELD, Iowa--()--Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. (Cambridge) announced that Amy Webber has been named to the InvestmentNews inaugural list of “Women to Watch” – a new feature profiling 20 influential leaders across financial services. These leaders were named following review of over 400 nominations by the staff at InvestmentNews.

“Amy Webber is a ‘Woman to Watch,’ with unlimited passion and energy for the delivery of objective advice by financial professionals with an independent mindset while serving the needs of their investing clients,” said Eric Schwartz, Cambridge’s chairman and CEO. “We congratulate her and all of the leaders recognized for this distinguished honor across the industry.”

Webber’s career in the independent financial services industry spans over 25 years. Since joining Cambridge in 1998, Webber has been a collaborative leader whose accomplishments include the development and expansion of a virtual office technology platform that is evolving into a comprehensive online business environment with robust mobile access, the introduction of the first independent broker-dealer (IBD) option for social media by advisors and the integration of continuous improvement throughout back office processes.

Driven to continually refine the IBD model to best support the next generation, Webber guides innovative programs such as the Cambridge Source outsourcing program and Cambridge’s New Century Council – a unique group of Next Gen advisors who provide insight on what advisors will need from their IBD partner, and the industry, to continue serving their investing clients into the future.

To provide critical support for the next generation of independent advisors, Webber is a voice on the issue across the industry while being a role model for Cambridge’s The Next Step® internship program. Thus far, The Next Step® has provided over 80 paid, multi-month internships to an annual field of over 600 qualified college applicants. Webber also prioritizes time to give back and is currently a member of the community high school’s Career and Technical Advisory Council, where she is an ardent supporter of young women and men.

In addition to mentoring women advisors, associates and interns, Webber introduced Cambridge’s Women Advisors Forum – among the few events at the time focused on women as advisors and clients. Now, more than five years into the program, she continues to host the event and moderates the highly popular Rainmaker’s Panel.

Having embraced compliance and operations disciplines early in her career, Webber holds the FINRA 6, 24, 62, 63 and 99 licenses. She actively voices support for effective change in regulation, including a thoughtful, well-crafted and uniform standard of care applicable to all financial services professionals, as well as simplified, effective and useful disclosures that the investing public can easily understand. Her ongoing commitment to independent advisors is demonstrated in her efforts to support them in successfully navigating the ever changing competitive and regulatory landscape, as well as her dedication to delivering high level service, customizable technology options and innovative business solutions.

In 2016, Webber will serve as the chairperson of the Financial Services Institute Board (FSI), following her position as vice chair in 2015. FSI is an advocacy organization for independent broker-dealers and their affiliated independent financial advisors.

In 2012 and 2014, Webber was recognized among the “IA 25” most influential in the industry by Investment Advisor magazine and in 2011, 2010, and 2009 as one of the “Top 50 Women in Wealth Management” by Wealth Manager.
