Jeffrey Weisz, MD Joins SullivanCotter as a Managing Principal and Consulting Physician

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc., one of the nation’s leading independent compensation, benefits and human resources management consulting firms, has named Jeffrey Weisz, MD a Managing Principal and Consulting Physician.

With over 37 years of combined experience as both a practicing Hematologist-Oncologist and an Executive Medical Director, Dr. Weisz has a national reputation for excellence in health care leadership, and brings a host of clinical knowledge and executive experience to his role at the firm. “Jeff is an extremely accomplished physician leader and a passionate advocate of advancing the patient-centered model of care. His longstanding commitment to improving clinical quality while simultaneously making care more affordable and delivering better value for patients will serve our clients very well as they continue to look for ways to align provider compensation with quality and value,” said SullivanCotter CEO, Ted Chien.

In his role as an executive physician leader, Dr. Weisz’s results-driven focus on accountability, patient satisfaction, improved outcomes and efficiency have all been instrumental in driving down costs and helping to create a high-value health care system in which both patients and providers work together to improve their care. “Physicians are perfectly positioned to take a lead role in addressing the challenges organizations face today in an era of limited resources and escalating demand. I believe that we can build a win-win system where high-quality care is delivered at affordable prices, and where physicians are fairly compensated while experiencing the satisfaction and pride of professional accomplishment while providing the best possible care to their patients,” said Dr. Weisz.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Weisz served as the President and Executive Medical Director for Kaiser Permanente Northwest, where he led 1,300 physicians serving 525,000 members. He also served as the Executive Medical Director for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, one of the largest medical groups in the United States, where he led his organization to the top of the nation in a host of patient care performance measures. During his time at Kaiser Permanente, he helped to launch a number of innovative programs and quality and service initiatives aimed at improving access and efficiency, as well as lowering the cost of care.

Dr. Weisz is also the successful author of It’s a Great Time to Be a Physician: Building a Healthcare System That Works, which provides physicians with both guidance and practical approaches for leading the transformation in health care service and delivery.

He received both his BA and MD from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI before completing his residency at the Henry Ford Medical Center and his fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.
