DOWNERS GROVE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NationaLease, one of the largest full-service truck leasing organizations in North America, held its 71st Annual Meeting in Washington, DC this September. Three members, AA NationaLease, Salem NationaLease, and Lesco NationaLease were recognized for 50 years of membership in the association, and 38 members were given the prestigious Leadership Circle Award.
The first day of the meeting was headlined by three dynamic speakers who set the tone for the meeting. John Venhuizen, President and CEO of Ace Hardware, shared his views on why small business really drives big business. Former Republican Congressman, Mickey Edwards, discussed what it means to turn Republicans and Democrats into Americans. Rounding out the first day was former military officer and interrogator, Eric Maddox, who gave his recollections as part of the team that sought, and found, Saddam Hussein, the “Ace of Spades” in the nation’s most-wanted list.
Day two opened with the approval of Andrew Flynn, President of TCI Leasing/Rentals, as a new member of the NationaLease Board of Directors. Speakers for this busy day included Art Freedman, Speaker and Trainer at Ace Hardware’s Center for Excellence, who provided insight into empowering employees. Jake Jacoby, President and CEO of the Truck Rental and Leasing Association, provided further developments affecting industry on Capitol Hill, a strong tie in to this year’s location at the center of government. Bruce Mehlman from Mehlman, Castagnetti, Rosen, Bingel & Thomas, and Steve Moore, Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Project for Economic Growth and the Heritage Foundation rounded out the day’s presentations.
Ending the day was a breakout session: Vision for the Future. This interactive session allowed members to share ideas with NationaLease executives to shape the future of the organization.
Next year’s meeting will take place Sept. 18-19, 2016 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.
