Reasor’s Grocery Stores Increase Coin Redemption, Profits with Cummins Allison Self-Service Coin Machines

MT. PROSPECT, Ill.--()--Cummins Allison, the leading innovator of coin, currency and check handling technology, as well as ATMs, today announced that Reasor’s grocery stores have experienced an increase in coin redemption volumes and profits since deploying Cummins Allison Money Machine® 2 self-service coin counters.

Reasor’s, one of Oklahoma's largest independent grocery chains, selected Cummins Allison’s Money Machine 2 coin counters to replace existing self-service coin machines throughout its 19 stores in May 2014.

Turning Coin Redemption Volumes into Profits

Reasor's experienced double digit growth in their coin volume after installing the Cummins Allison machines, increasing the profitability of their self-service coin program. This increase is a direct result of a decrease in downtime with the Money Machine 2 machines, as compared to Reasor’s previous coin counting equipment. Also, the Money Machine 2 coin counters are five times faster than Reasor’s previous machines. This speed translates into increased customer preference and utilization of the coin machines.

“Our motivation in selecting Cummins Allison was a more flexible service agreement, increased profits and faster coin processing,” said Dennis Maxwell, project manager, Reasor’s. “The exceptional level of service provided by Cummins Allison, combined with the equipment’s performance and minimal downtime have enabled us to increase our coin redemption volumes and profits.”

Customer and Employee Benefits of Self Service Coin

Cummins Allison provides a truly hands-free operation by managing all coin pickup and processing, eliminating the time-consuming task of coin handling so store associates can focus on more valuable service-related activities.

“Our stores have become the destination for our customers’ coin counting needs. And, our employees are no longer burdened with machine down-time or customer complaints,” said Maxwell.

Promotional Efforts Keep Machines Front-and-Center

To build awareness and a steady stream of traffic to its self-service coin machines, Reasor’s has taken a multi-pronged approach to promotion. When the machines were first installed, Reasor’s and Cummins Allison worked together on in-store marketing to educate shoppers and promote their availability. Ongoing promotion includes rotating information via in-store radio and highlighting the service in store circulars.

“Many of our grocery customers have realized the potential and profits that self-service coin can deliver to their organization. We are pleased to see that Reasor’s, specifically, has achieved such tremendous success since installing our Money Machine 2 self-service coin machines,” said Jim Weaks, vice president, Cummins Allison.
