NEW YORK--()--Metro US, the No. 1 free daily newspaper in the United States, today unveiled a fresh new design of its print editions. This morning, millions of commuters in Boston, New York and Philadelphia discovered the clean, modern look with a streamlined layout, which improves readability as well as the overall navigation and reading experience.

Readers will benefit from the concise, easier to read design, which in turn makes advertising stand out more. The sleek design was spearheaded by Julianne Aerts, Metro US Editorial Art Director.

“We constantly improve our products to keep pace with consumers’ tastes and advertisers’ needs,” said Yggers Mortensen, CEO and president of Metro US. “The new design iteration of our smartpaper focuses on enhancing the reader’s experience as well as the advertising impact.”

Beyond Metro’s three must-read daily sections – news, entertainment and sports – Metro features five newly redesigned weekly sections:

  • Monday: Career and education
  • Tuesday: Wellbeing
  • Wednesday: Home and Real Estate
  • Thursday: Going Out/Staying In & Travel
  • Friday: Weekend

Additionally, Metro’s games page is now spread across two pages to include a new comic strip, Truth Facts and a quiz for the enjoyment of the readers and to allow for new sponsorship opportunities.
