Accuro™ Highlighted in “AORA 2015” Scientific Presentation by Anand M. Sardesai, MD, Anesthesiologist, Cambridge (UK) University Hospital: “Advances in Ultrasound Machine Technology and Future Trends”

RIVANNA™’s Accuro™ demonstrated 96% success rate in automatically identifying the epidural space

Automated 3D navigation performance using Accuro included 27 patients in three groups with distinctly different Body Mass Indexes (BMIs)

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--()--Rivanna Medical announced today that Anand M. Sardesai, MD, highlighted the Accuro™ at “AORA 2015” in his presentation on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015: “Advances in Ultrasound Machine Technology and Future Trends.”

Preliminary data from an ongoing clinical study at the University of Virginia School of Medicine show that Rivanna Medical’s Accuro device was 96% successful in identifying the epidural space via its proprietary real-time 3D image automation technology, SpineNav3D™. The study’s principal investigator is Mohamed Tiouririne, MD, Dept. of Anesthesiology, University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Rivanna Medical has received FDA 510(k) clearance to market Accuro, a handheld and untethered smart phone-sized device that is designed to guide a clinician using a needle or probe to a target within the abdominal, musculoskeletal, cardiac and peripheral vascular anatomies of the human body.

The Accuro device is designed to provide automated 3D navigation to an anatomical target so a clinician may avoid “guessing” where the target is. The initial commercial application of RIVANNA’s Accuro™ platform is designed for guiding clinicians to a first-attempt success in administering spinal anesthesia into the epidural space.

“No doubt, Accuro is a disruptive, game-changing device platform technology,” said John A. Williams, President and CEO. “The Accuro platform, which is based on automated 3D navigation, has an addressable $1+ billion U.S. market today.

“Because of the significant unmet clinical need for automated image guidance in general, and in the spinal anesthesia sector especially, we are looking forward to launching Accuro at the upcoming annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) in San Diego next month.”

“AORA 2015” is the 5th National conference of the Academy of Regional Anaesthesia (“AORA”) of India.
