Lee S. Richards III, Esq., to Receive the 2015 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Second Circuit

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Lee S. Richards III, Esquire, has been selected to receive the prestigious 2015 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Second Circuit. The award will be presented September 29, 2015 at the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse in New York, New York, by the Honorable Denny Chin.

Richards is a founding partner of Richards Kibbe & Orbe, LLP, where he concentrates on white collar criminal defense, securities enforcement defense, regulatory proceedings, internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation. He has extensive trial experience and regularly represents investment banks, hedge funds, public companies, investment advisers, corporate officers and directors, and other professionals in investigations and proceedings by the DOJ, SEC, FINRA, and other governmental entities.

Co-founder and president emeritus of the Federal Bar Council American Inn of Court, Richards also has served on the American Inns of Court Board of Trustees. He is a regular speaker and writer on topics relating to criminal and securities law issues, and served for 15 years as an adjunct assistant professor at Fordham University School of Law.

A summa cum laude graduate of Amherst College, Richards earned his juris doctor from Columbia Law School. He served as a clerk to Judge Milton Pollack at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He went on to serve as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York; he has received the Department of Justice’s Award for Superior Performance.

The American Inns of Court Professionalism Awards are awarded in participating federal circuits, to a lawyer or judge whose life and practice display sterling character, unquestioned integrity, and dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law. The award is presented at the circuit's judicial conference and recipients will be recognized in October at the 2015 American Inns of Court Celebration of Excellence at the Supreme Court of the United States.
