Hyundai Hope on Wheels Awards $250,000 Grant to Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation for Leukemia Research

DETROIT--()--Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation (CHMF) has received a $250,000 Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant for pediatric cancer research. The grant funds will support the work of Jeffrey Taub, MD, Chief, Pediatric Oncology, DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan, to focus on developing new therapies for children with acute myeloid leukemia who have relapsed after treatment with standard chemotherapy.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation is one of 45 recipients nationwide to receive a 2015 Hyundai Scholar Grant during September, National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In all, Hope On Wheels will award $10.5 million in research grants this September in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation, a long-time partner of the organization, has received $425,000 from Hope On Wheels since 2010.

The $250,000 grant to Jeffrey Taub, MD of Children’s Hospital of Michigan was officially presented during a Hope On Wheels Handprint Ceremony at Children’s Hospital of Michigan on Thursday, September 3, 2015. During the ceremony, the Hope On Wheels program commemorated metro Detroit-area children affected by cancer by capturing their handprints on a white 2016 Hyundai Tucson.
