U.S. Travel Agency Air Ticket Sales January-July Decrease Slightly vs. Same Period 2014

Ticket Transactions Increased 4.97 Percent in First Seven Months of 2015 Compared to 2014

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), the financial settlement link between airlines and travel sellers, reported today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies decreased 1.03 percent* in the first seven months of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014, totaling $55.4 billion (vs. $56 billion). July 2015 ticket sales decreased 1.64 percent to $7.4 billion against the same month last year.

Ticket transactions increased by 4.97 percent in 2015 vs. 2014 to 94.3 million. Passenger segments increased 1.7 percent to 225.5 million, compared to 221.6 million in 2014.

Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales comprised $8.4 million of the total sales from January to July 2015 vs. $957,500 over the same period in 2014 and $1.6 million of the July 2015 sales compared to $340,800 in July 2014. EMD transactions increased to 783,000 in 2015 versus 22.2 thousand in 2014.
