NYC Surgical Associates Welcomes Arien Smith, MD and Victor Rosenberg, MD; Expands Practice Offerings With New Areas of Clinical Service & Cutting Edge Care

NEW YORK--()--NYC Surgical Associates, a leading multi-specialty surgical practice with seven locations across the New York Metro area, announced today that two new physicians have joined the practice, Arien Smith MD, who specializes in neurosurgery and spine surgery, and Victor Rosenberg MD, who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The acquisition of Dr. Smith and Dr. Rosenberg rounds out the practice’s clinical service areas, which includes diagnostics, internal medicine, anesthesia, general surgery, vascular surgery, weight loss surgery, orthopedics, and neuromuscular and pain, with new specialty services in neurosurgery/spine and plastic surgery.

Dr. Arien Smith is a board certified and fellowship trained spine surgeon treating the full spectrum of brain and spine disorders. As the Director of the Neurosurgery and Spine Division at NYC Surgical Associates, his practice includes both adult and pediatric spinal disorders. Possessing a rare combination of subspecialty training in both orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery for chronic, acute, and traumatic issues, Dr. Smith also brings deep experience in pediatric deformity and scoliosis surgery to NYC Surgical Associates. In addition, he treats a wide variety of brain and spine tumors, with a particular area of expertise in the minimally invasive removal of tumors of the pituitary gland through a transnasal approach.

Arien Smith, MD is a graduate from the Yale University School of Medicine (2003) and received his B.A. in Biology & Spanish from the University of Rochester in New York. His post-doctoral training includes a surgical internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center Department of Neurosurgery. Subsequently, he completed a Fellowship at the Spine Institute of New York, Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Smith is an active member of both the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Victor I. Rosenberg, MD, FACS, whose specialty is Cosmetic and Complex Reconstructive Surgery of the entire body, has been in private practice since 1970. For twenty years he was the director of Plastic Surgery at NYU Downtown Hospital. In addition, he has enjoyed a long time affiliation with Beth Israel Medical Center and The Mount Sinai Medical Center and for many years has been on the staff of Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenberg is also the inventor of instruments used in Plastic Surgery and other surgical specialties, and has authored papers published in medical journals.

Dr. Rosenberg has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1969, after having completed four years of training in General Surgery followed by three more years of training in Plastic Surgery. All seven years were spent in Mount Sinai, Beth Israel and Albert Einstein, all New York City hospitals. During the Viet Nam War, he was a Commander in the United States Navy, serving as Chief of Plastic Surgery at the St. Albans Naval Hospital. Honors include “Alumnus of The Year” at NYU Downtown Hospital (1998). He is an attending surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Recently the hospital honored him for his accomplishments and contributions by hanging his portrait in the ambulatory surgery section of the hospital, an honor bestowed upon only the most skilled and renowned surgeons.

Dr. Rosenberg is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, Society of Military Plastic Surgeons and other professional organizations. He has been featured in The New York Times, New York Post, Daily News, The New York Times Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Allure, Cosmopolitan, US, Self, Ladies Home Journal, and numerous other publications, as well as national and local news and lifestyle shows.
