Allison+Partners Adds Henk Campher as Executive Vice President, Social Impact

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Allison+Partners today announced the addition of Henk Campher as executive vice president, Social Impact. Campher will expand the agency’s global capabilities in corporate citizenship, CSR and sustainability. He will be based in the San Francisco office and report to President, Europe and Global Corporate Matthew Della Croce.

Campher was previously senior vice president, Business + Social Purpose and managing director, Sustainability at Edelman. During his tenure, he led award-winning campaigns such as Starbucks’ “Shared Planet”, HP’s “Matter to a Million” partnership with Kiva and Levi’s “Water<Less” campaign. Each initiative helped these brands strengthen their reputation, attract and retain employees, differentiate in the marketplace and spark sales growth as a result of consumer preference. He also led client teams and provided ongoing strategic counsel to companies such as eBay, Kellogg's, The North Face, SCJohnson, Johnson & Johnson and Unilever on a variety of CSR and sustainability issues.

“As consumers continue to care more about what a company stands for, the ability to capture their purchasing power depends heavily on brands placing their values first,” said Della Croce. “Henk is a true thought leader in this space who understands these issues and can help guide our clients to create positive social change, while building their brand loyalty.”

Campher has more than 20 years of experience in the sustainability space. Prior to Edelman, he worked as an Oxfam campaigner in the United Kingdom, where he led programs aimed at businesses and improving their social impact. A South African native, he also worked as an African development worker and trade unionist, helping to create Nelson Mandela’s “Proudly South African” campaign. In 2015, he was named as one of Triple Pundit’s “Top 30 CSR Pros to Follow,” Trustworthy Business Behavior’s “Top 100 Thought Leaders” and The Guardian’s “Top 15 Sustainable Business Executives on Twitter.” He is a regular contributor to Triple Pundit, Huffington Post and CSRWire, and a frequent speaker at conferences. His book, “Creating a Sustainable Brand: A Guide to Growing the Sustainability Top Line,” was published in April 2014.

“Everyone is doing ‘CSR PR,’ but very few are truly thinking about the value proposition of their brand,” said Campher. “Consumers either connect with you because they believe in your purpose, or they view you as ‘blah’ brands or snake oil sellers. Capturing that purpose through storytelling and substance, and executing it through creative, disruptive and integrated communications is how you will grow your business top line and manage your bottom line. Allison+Partners is the perfect place to make this happen because of its creative and entrepreneurial spirit. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty with the team here.”

Campher will co-lead the Social Impact group with Allison+Partners/ Co-Founder Scott Pansky, who will continue to oversee the agency’s cause marketing and non-profit marketing communications services.
