Southern Wine & Spirits of America Promotes Carlos Vigil to Vice President, Sales Effectiveness

MIAMI--()--Kevin Fennessey, Executive Vice President, Commercial Strategy, Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern) — the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor with operations in 35 markets — announced the promotion of Carlos Vigil to Vice President, Sales Effectiveness. This appointment is effective immediately, with Vigil continuing to report directly to Fennessey.

Vigil joined Southern in 2009 as a Director in the Strategic Programs Group. Two years later, he served as Southern’s Vice President, Inside Sales & Direct Marketing. In his new role, Vigil will focus on building best-in-class customer sales and marketing capabilities across all sales channels, including field, inside and eCommerce. Consistent with Southern’s vision and strategy, his role will enhance the brand building and goal achievement value for our trading partners. Additionally, Vigil will continue to oversee Southern’s Inside Sales group. Prior to joining Southern, Vigil began his professional career as an attorney for Schiff Hardin LLC and later joined McKinsey & Co. as a management consultant.

Commenting on the promotion, Fennessey stated, “Carlos’ experience in driving key strategic projects makes him the ideal leader to develop and implement a best-in-class Southern Wine & Spirits suite of sales force tools and capabilities across our footprint. Carlos will develop and embed a change management process around sales force effectiveness initiatives and marketing channels — all for the benefit of our suppliers, customers and Southern alike.”

Vigil received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Area Studies from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina; a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University of Law in Evanston, Illinois; and a Master of Business Administration in Strategy, Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
