Stanford Health Care Opens its New Stanford Cancer Center South Bay

Stanford’s Leading Edge and Coordinated Cancer Services Now Available in the South Bay

STANFORD, Calif.--()--Stanford Health Care today officially opened its new Stanford Cancer Center South Bay in San Jose. Located at 2589 Samaritan Drive in San Jose, the Stanford Cancer Center South Bay brings Stanford Health Care’s renowned comprehensive cancer services to the South Bay in a state-of-the-art, patient-oriented center.

"We are truly excited to extend Stanford’s comprehensive and compassionate cancer care to more Bay Area residents,” said Patrick Swift, MD, medical director, Stanford Cancer Center South Bay. "This new facility extends regional access to Stanford Health Care’s leading edge and coordinated care.”

Every detail has been considered from the patient’s perspective to support the delivery of the most advanced cancer care available, in a setting that is unsurpassed in the South Bay. Planning for the building included extensive workflow design in partnership with Stanford’s Patient and Family Advisory Councils, members of the local community, and a multidisciplinary team of physicians and staff to provide a welcoming and efficient layout.

Stanford is known for a number of key breakthroughs in cancer, including the initial development of the tumor board, the first medical use of a linear accelerator, invention of the CyberKnife for focused radiation therapy, development of one of the first targeted cancer treatments through the use of monoclonal antibodies, and a host of other advances, several of which will be available in the new South Bay location.
