ALLEN, Texas--()--Reissuing release dated July 8, 2015, to correct third paragraph.

The corrected release reads:

AFFILIATED WORKERS ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES NEW ACCIDENT AND SHORT TERM MEDICAL INSURANCE PLANS

Affiliated Workers Association (AWA), through its exclusive third-party administrator, Homeland HealthCare, Inc., announced today the launch of two new insurance plans including an accident plan and guaranteed issue short term medical plan.

The accident plan, called Protect Now, is underwritten by A-rated carrier XL Catlin. Three plan levels are available that provide accident protection that pays cash benefits for covered accident expenses. In addition to accident protection, the plan includes an added critical illness benefit. This plan is a great complement to an existing health plan, as it helps pay for expenses while deductibles are being met.

The new short term medical plan, called HealthAssure, is a guaranteed issue (GI) plan underwritten by National Health Insurance Company. This new GI short term medical plan is an available option for prospective members who do not qualify for the Preferred Choice STM, also underwritten by National Health Insurance Company, making it the perfect solution for individuals who need temporary health insurance. HealthAssure is available in term lengths of 6 and 11 months, depending on the plan selected with a variety of deductible options.

Both the accident and GI short term medical plans include non-insured benefits, such as 24/7 telemedicine services and a discount prescription program.

“AWA is excited to launch these two new supplemental insurance plans,” said Neil Peterson, AWA President. “Both plans further extend the insurance options available to our members, which is important with the changes that continue to take place with the new health care law.”

Other supplemental plans also available through AWA include gap, dental and vision insurance through top-rated carriers with years of experience in the insurance industry.
