Volaris Announces 50 Million Transported Customers Milestone

  • Nine years after the carrier’s foundation, Volaris reaches significant milestone; Mexico’s airline with the widest route network throughout Mexico and the US

MEXICO CITY--()--Volaris (NYSE: VLRS and BMV: VOLAR), the ultra low cost Mexican airline with the most extensive route network servicing Mexico and the US, announced today that nine years after having started operations, the carrier has now reached a record 50 million transported Customers, of these 43 million are domestic passengers and 7 million are international passengers.

Volaris operates with a model connecting destinations from point to point with “Clean Fares”, and Customers pay exclusively for the services they need according to their particular travel needs. Volaris fosters connectivity and the development of Mexico’s commercial air transportation industry, targeting Customers who would otherwise travel long distances by bus.

“Today we reached an important milestone, transporting our Customer number 50 million, Carmen García González. We are very pleased that our Customers have trusted our services and continue to select us as their airline of choice,” said José Luis Suarez, Customer Services and Sales Director. “We thank their ongoing preference and stand by our promise to continue offering the best travel experiences.”

From January through May of 2015, Volaris registered 4.4 million reservations, which represented a year to year 17.2 per cent increase. Volaris currently operates more than 280 daily flights.

The airline has been able to duplicate their passenger base, with growth rates surpassing 10 per cent, and to this end, Suárez said: “I can say with enormous satisfaction that we are permanently commitment to increasing connectivity for our Customers through the 140 routes we operate in Mexico, the US and Central America. I firmly believe that this is one of the reasons we reached our historical 50 million passengers milestone, and this is a great gift to us after nine years of working towards providing them with outstanding service and connectivity.”

Since starting operations in 2006, Volaris has had the vision of encouraging everyone to fly. Today, the airline operates 140 routes to 62 cities – 39 in Mexico and 23 internationally, and in May 2015, secured a 23.8 per cent market share in terms of domestic passenger transportation and 20.6 percent in international passenger transportation.
