Johnson & Quin Direct Mail Clients Experience Benefits of Color Inkjet Printing

NILES, Ill.--()--Johnson & Quin, Inc., a recognized name in full-service direct mail production and integrated marketing solutions, reports extremely positive feedback from clients after six months of production on the Screen Truepress Jet520ZZ high-speed color inkjet printing system. Color inkjet presses combine both the traditional offset printing and personalization steps into a single process, resulting in postage savings, faster production schedules, and unlimited versioning for highly targeted messaging.

Initially Johnson & Quin’s direct mail clients were sold on the immediate cost savings and flexibility provided by the color inkjet press. Multiple versions were combined into one production run, resulting in significantly lower postage rates. In addition, preprinted forms are no longer required, eliminating the time and cost of managing inventory and shortening production schedules.

“We have been very encouraged by how quickly our clients have taken advantage of the creative flexibility provided by color inkjet,” said Bob Arkema, executive vice president. “They can easily incorporate copy and creative tests into a single production run. Clients are adding more versions to customize messages to various list segments. Personalized copy is now being printed in color to call attention to specific copy points.”

Clients are also being creative with package design to gain more savings. One direct marketer added a larger window to their outer envelope so that colorful, variable images and copy are visible on the outside of the package. Multiple versions can be produced together, holding down postage and production costs.

Andrew Henkel, vice president of sales indicates, “We are currently producing and mailing over 15 million pieces on the color inkjet press each month. This includes letter packages and self-mailers. Programs are being converted to color inkjet at a very rapid pace. The savings can be incredible and we have seen several production managers far exceed their savings metrics. Clients who have made the switch have no interest in going back to preprinted forms. We encourage our prospects and clients to switch to color inkjet quickly for cost savings, and gradually work towards taking advantage of the other benefits including unlimited versioning and personalization in color.”

In the coming months the staff at Johnson & Quin will be testing different papers on the color inkjet press including glossy stocks for self-mailers. Paper stocks, ink usage and running speed all need to be factored into the equation to obtain the highest possible quality at the lowest cost.
