Truven Health Analytics Hosts Hospital Leadership Summit

100 Top Hospitals Summit Honors Leaders Who Are Outperforming National Performance Benchmarks

MANALAPAN, Fla.--()--Truven Health Analytics is hosting its annual 100 Top Hospitals® Summit from June 17-19 at the Eau Resort and Spa in Manalapan, Florida.

“Through this Summit we hope to encourage an exchange of ideas that will help raise the game for our entire industry,” said Mike Boswood, Truven Health president and CEO. “Those who have earned 100 Top Hospitals honors are healthcare leaders at the forefront of managing change, including the shift to value-based care while simultaneously improving quality and reducing costs.”

The thought-provoking speakers at this year’s 100 Top Hospitals Summit include Richard Gilfillan, MD, president and CEO of Trinity Health, who discussed building a people-centered healthcare system and David Blom, president and CEO of OhioHealth, whose focus is fostering engagement to drive excellence. Also on the podium was Kevin Davies, PhD, vice president, American Chemical Society and author of “The $1,000 Genome,” discussing medical care implications of affordable genomic testing and Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, cancer researcher and Pulitzer Prize winning science writer/author of The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer, with insights into the next likely cancer care breakthroughs.

The 100 Top Hospitals program is the most comprehensive, rigorous study of its kind, producing three studies each year: 100 Top Hospitals, 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals; and 15 Top Health Systems. These studies are conducted by Truven Health Analytics, a leader in healthcare data analytics focused on improving the quality and reducing the cost of healthcare. The program incorporates public data; proprietary, risk-adjusted and peer-reviewed methodologies; and key performance metrics to arrive at an objective, balanced scorecard measuring current performance and long-term improvement. It evaluates performance in 11 areas including mortality and complications, profitability, patient satisfaction, and adherence to clinical standards of care. For 2015, the study includes Medicare Spend per Beneficiary, which leverages Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data to evaluate the cost incurred for an episode of care across settings pre- and post-discharge.

For more than 20 years, Truven Health has held the Summit to celebrate the highest performing hospitals and health systems in the country, honored each year with a Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals award. The Summit brings together the leaders of these organizations to highlight the value of national benchmarks and innovative uses of data to help monitor their impact on hospital and health system performance, and to discuss solutions to tackle the industry’s most pressing challenges.

The event concludes with the presentation of awards and recognition of the winners by their peers in attendance at the Summit. For more information on the 100 Top Hospitals program, please visit www.100tophospitals.com.
