The Publicity Club of New England Honors Excellence in Public Relations at the 47th Annual Bell Ringers Award Ceremony

BOSTON--()--The Publicity Club of New England, the region’s oldest not-for-profit public relations trade organization, today announced the winners of its 47th annual Bell Ringer Awards. The awards ceremony, held on Thursday, June 11 at the House of Blues in Boston, Mass., honored public relations and communications professionals from 45 agencies and organizations across New England demonstrating the excellence in public relations and communication initiatives.

The Platinum Super Bell Award, presented to the organization that executed the best communications campaign of the year, went to MSLGROUP for “Launching Cologuard: A Game-changer in the Fight Against Colon Cancer.”

“MSLGROUP had a big night at this year’s Bell Ringer ceremony, culminating in the receipt of the coveted Platinum Super Bell for our work with Exact Sciences,” said Dave Close, managing director of the MSLGROUP Boston. “Our agency has been part of the New England PR community for more than two decades. We are honored that our work representing an innovative healthcare client was deemed the year’s best of the best by a panel of our esteemed peers.”

This year’s Platinum Super Bell finalists included 360 Public Relations, Duffy & Shanley, MSLGROUP and SHIFT Communications. The evenings top winners were SHIFT Communications with 13 awards; 360 Public Relations with 11 awards; and Cone Communications and Duffy & Shanley, each with 9 awards.

In addition to recognizing the inspiring work of communications teams across the region, the Club honored Pamela Wickham of Raytheon with the 2015 John J. Molloy Crystal Bell Lifetime Achievement Award for his/her significant achievements in the industry.

The Club also presented two professional awards at the June 11 event: the Striker Award and the Ringer Award. The Striker Award recognizes a practitioner who demonstrated an early love of the field, a dedication to their career and a superior work ethic. This year, Julia Bucchianeri of H|B Agency was chosen as the recipient for excelling in PR in a very short period of time and has surpassed other newcomers in the organization and in the field.

The Ringer Award honors a practitioner who demonstrated steady and significant progress in impacting his or her agency, company or practice and the New England PR community since entering the field of public relations. This year, the award was presented to Jessica Alario of 451 Marketing for being known by her colleagues and clients as a model practitioner, committed to advancing her personal growth, that of her company and that of the field.

The Club continued its annual student scholarship program by awarding the 2015 William Cavanaugh Student Grant to Brianna Viera for her superior academic achievement.

The Bell Ringer Awards ceremony was hosted by Jenny Johnson, Emmy Award Winning producer and co-host of NESN’s Dining Playbook. For this year’s charity auction recipient, Johnson selected Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), an annual 192-mile bike-a-thon to raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
