Faessel Sworn in as City of Anaheim’s Representative on Metropolitan Board

LOS ANGELES--()--Merchandise manager and long-time civic volunteer Stephen J. Faessel was sworn in today as the city of Anaheim’s representative on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Faessel succeeds Donald Calkins, who served as Anaheim’s representative since October 2014. He was appointed to the Metropolitan board’s Engineering and Operations Committee; Finance and Insurance Committee; Organization, Personnel and Technology Committee; and Integrated Resources Planning Committee.

Faessel is the merchandise manager for the 16-store Crown ACE Hardware chain based in Huntington Beach. In addition, he has taught courses in electricity, electrical codes and utility systems as a continuing education instructor for the North Orange County Community College District. A longtime member of the National Fire Protection Association, Electrical Section, Faessel also has consulted with local contractors and businesses on electrical designs.

Active in civic affairs, Faessel chairs the city of Anaheim’s Budget, Investment and Technology Committee, after serving on the Anaheim Planning Commission from June 2006 to June 2013. He previously chaired the Anaheim Public Utility Board and served on the city’s General Plan Advisory Committee.

In addition to his civic involvement, Faessel sits on the board of trustees of the Anaheim Museum, Inc. and is president of the Anaheim Mother Colony Household, Inc. He is a founding member of the Anaheim MUZEO, where he currently serves as the foundation’s board secretary. In addition, Faessel is a member of the board of directors of the Anaheim Community Foundation, and currently serves on the foundation’s Executive Committee.

Faessel is past president of the Anaheim Historical Society, Inc., for which he continues to serve as its corresponding secretary, as well as the local chapter of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He served on and chaired the Orange County Historical Commission, including on the commission’s editorial board during the republishing of the county’s history book, “100 Years of Yesterdays.”

An Orange County native, Faessel and his wife, Susan, have an adult son.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people in six counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
