Wu-Tang’s RZA Joins Boombotix to Head Content Strategy

Music producer will be “Head Abbot” for the portable audio company

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Boombotix, a leader in portable audio technology, announces that music producer and artist, Robert Diggs—professionally known as RZA—will join the company. As a new member and partner with Boombotix, RZA will guide Boombotix’s content strategy as the company seeks to create new mediums for artists to release content. He will also work firsthand on new products in development at Boombotix.

Most recently, RZA added a personal touch to a new speaker Boombotix plans to release this summer. The speaker contains exclusive content from RZA and a handful of other musicians.

Initially in 2014, RZA collaborated with Boombotix to release selections of Wu-Tang Clan’s Album, “A Better Tomorrow,” on a Boombot REX. Compared to other portable Bluetooth speakers, RZA chose to approach Boombotix because of the stunning quality of its speakers. With dual 36mm drivers that guarantee full fidelity across every genre, the Boombot REX provides an acoustically clear sound usually reserved for speakers much larger.

In the wake of the speaker’s success, the company moved to create the “Chambers Collection.” The Chambers Collection will feature a series of ultraportable Bluetooth speakers with artist collaborations embedded on flash storage for listening whenever and wherever. As ‘Head Abbot,’ a take on his Wu-Tang Clan nickname, ‘The Abbot,” RZA will facilitate more relationships in the music industry for future collaborations.

“We’re forming this partnership to connect musicians and fans in new ways,” said RZA. “Through the technology that we create, we’ll be able to reach fans in a more intimate way. This speaker can go anywhere, and I love that. We’re putting music back in your hands.”

The Boombot REX — 20th Anniversary Wu-Tang Edition was designed to spark conversation regarding the economics of music in a climate of Internet piracy and streaming services. Instead of buying records and lining up outside stores for new releases, music fans can access music from the cloud or download it illegally. According to RZA, this new methodology degrades the artistic value of music and the immense amount of time devoted to creating it. Boombotix’s new content strategy creates a special moment for the artist and brick and mortar retailers to drive excitement around music.

“We’re excited to welcome RZA onboard in a role where he’ll have a meaningful impact on the future of our brand,” said Mustafa Shaikh, head of marketing for Boombotix. “Under his guidance, we’ll be working with a wide range of artists to create new and exciting product releases.”
