Nuance’s Dragon TV Enables Voice Search on the New Roku 3 Streaming Player

Users Simply Speak to Find Movies and TV Episodes

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced that Roku Inc. has integrated Dragon TV voice recognition into the voice search experience on the Roku 3 streaming player and the Roku mobile app for iOS and Android devices. As a result, consumers simply press a button on the enhanced remote control or within the Roku app, and speak to search for movies and TV shows.

Roku offers the biggest streaming channels lineup in the U.S. and access to more than 2,000 channels and 250,000 movies and TV episodes. With its comprehensive and unbiased search feature, Roku helps people find what to watch across top streaming channels. Consumers can look for actors and directors and view filmographies as well as search for movies and TV episodes and discover availability and pricing. Now with voice search, consumers with a Roku 3 streaming player can simply say “Orange is the new Black” to quickly find the hit series, “Interstellar” to watch the movie or “Gaiam” to enjoy the fitness channel.

“Millions of people use Roku streaming players every day. With the widest selection of streaming channels available and a comprehensive and unbiased search, it’s very easy for consumers to find the entertainment they want to watch,” said Scott de Haas, senior vice president of product engineering and operations at Roku. “Now that we’ve added Nuance Dragon TV voice recognition technology to enable our customers to use their voice, searching for movies and TV shows is faster and easier than ever before.”

Dragon TV makes it easy for people to navigate the seemingly endless menu of TV shows, movies and content made available in today’s connected home, by providing service providers and manufacturers with the ability to design a voice interface into the fabric of their overall user experience – quickly and easily.

“Roku provides an amazing array of media content. Voice makes it simple for consumers to get right to the content they want, quickly and easily,” said Scott Taylor, Senior Vice President of Mobile Devices, Nuance.
