Alfresco Expands Leadership Team into Public Sector

Hires Government Technology Veteran to Lead US Government Strategy

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--Alfresco Software reinforced its position as a leading provider of modern Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Business Process Management (BPM) software with the recent hire of Austin Adams as its Vice President of Public Sector. This seasoned, award-winning technology leader is joining Alfresco as the company’s growth outpaces the market, allowing it to pay particular attention to its public sector sales, which represents a substantial portion of its global business.

Adams is responsible for setting the strategy and driving growth in the U.S. public sector, including federal, state and local government agencies, and higher education institutions. Specifically he plans to solve a currently unmet need in public sector institutions with Alfresco’s open source, hybrid cloud platform. Federal government agencies have an especially urgent need to meet OMB M-12-18, the NARA/OMB Managing Government Records Directive, which Alfresco is perfectly suited to solve leveraging its DoD 5015.2 certification, the Design Criteria Standard for Electronic Records Management Software Applications.

“Government agencies are on the verge of a looming content crisis and need a modern platform that can simply and securely bring together the critical content from email, file shares, SharePoint, line-of-business systems, social media, physical documents and image files in on-premise, mobile and cloud environments,” Adams said. “Alfresco meets that need with a simple-to-use, open source, highly scalable, hybrid cloud platform that is perfectly suited to solve what has become epidemic levels of unsecured and unmanaged content sprawl.”

Adams joins Alfresco from Microsoft where he was responsible for business with the Joint U.S. Department of Defense, including the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He won numerous awards at Microsoft orchestrating innovative solutions that recognized him with top revenue producing accolades. His customers were responsible for operating the largest customer deployments of Exchange and SharePoint in the world.

“Government agencies face a huge challenge of a mobile workforce that expects consumer simplicity while facing records management, security, compliance and other content requirements,” said Doug Dennerline, CEO of Alfresco. “We are confident Austin will provide the leadership for Alfresco to help agencies solve this challenge to deliver content where and when their growing number of users want it while providing the controls that are mandated.”

Adams is an ECM veteran, having served at Microlink and InfoReliance, both Microsoft Federal Partner of the Year winners during his tenure. Adams’ public sector IT experience extends to his work at Ellucian (formerly Datatel), a higher education information systems company.

Adams holds an executive master’s degree in leadership from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and a bachelor of arts in political science from James Madison University.
