LONG BEACH, Calif.--()--In honor of Older Americans Month, SCAN Health Plan’s mobile resource center – the SCAN Van – will be making a stop in West Hollywood on May 19 at the 14th annual Healthy Seniors Fair. From 9 a.m. to noon, SCAN will provide free stroke and thyroid screenings.

The SCAN Van features educational resources and on-board activities such as brain fitness programs, virtual bowling and more. Launched in 2010 the SCAN Van is the nation’s first mobile resource center built specifically for seniors and caregivers.

“Taking an active role in managing your own health is important for all of us but especially for seniors,” said Sherry Stanislaw, senior vice president and general manager for SCAN in Southern California. “They often have increasing health needs and concerns, but still want to remain active and involved. The SCAN Van provides a unique opportunity for seniors to learn about health and healthy lifestyle habits while having some fun, too.”

The Healthy Seniors Fair, presented by the city of West Hollywood Senior Advisory Board, is being held at the Community Center at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. Sponsors include SCAN Health Plan, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, and the Saban Community Clinic.
